World Tourism Day
Amongst a participation of 100 players from across different cities and schools, 16 girls from Mashal took part.
The girls participated in under 12, under 15, and under 18 age categories.
10 girls from Mashal secured 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th positions in their respective age categories.
The club management advised formal and regular training of the girls to polish the skills for participation in higher and national championships.
As a reward, the Club arranged for zipline for Mashal girls–

A Sasta Bazar was organized for the Community by the Mashal Association. It was highly successful as a record number of community members participated and revenue was generated by the charity event.

The students of Mashal Association School are offering songs of devotion in the celebration of Eid Milad. After the hymn and naat in the ceremony, special prayers were made for the safety and well-being of Palestine, Pakistan and the Ummah.

Colorful event of Mashal Sasta Bazar with delicious dishes and discounted household goods and clothes enjoyed by the Community and Mashal members, school children and families.
Mashal Medical Department organized two health awareness seminars in the month of May. On 6th May, the topic was “Allergic Diseases”, which are very common in May. Dr. Razia delivered the lecture on the topic. The participants were informed regarding common allergens, which the people are facing. they were also apprised of the preventive measures to be adopted.
The second program was held on 20th May. Since May 17 is observe the world over as “Hypertension Day” according the World Health Organization Calendar, hence the topic on 20 May also was “Hypertension”. The etiology, signs and symptoms of the disease were informed to the participants. Special stress was laid on dietary control, psychological and behavioral habits. Dr. Badar delivered the lecture. Members of the community and Mashal Association participated wholeheartedly in both seminars.
Mashal School for Girls has added a new wing to its premises with the help of generous contributions of the members and their families.
Vice President Mashal Association Mah Gul Koreshi, was the driving force behind this project hence the Boardroom has been named after her.
Prize Distribution Ceremony was held at Gosha-e-Mashal on 21 March 2023. Students, their parents, Mashal Members and their guests participated in the event wholeheartedly.
Cash Prizes, Certificates, trophies and medals were awarded to position holders and best achievers.
Students also presented a variety program, which was highly appreciated by the guests.
Mashal Association provided an opportunity for the women of Margalla Town to participate in the Spring festivities. In this Meena Bazaar, women offered handicrafts, jewelery-dresses, calligraphy, paintings for sale along with delicious dishes -A colorful entertainment program for Mashal School and area children made the fair a success
We have recently introduced a house system at our school. The students have been evenly divided into four houses- Red, Blue, Green and Yellow. The four houses now have a House Captain and Deputy House Captain each. All of them along with the Prefects and the elected Secretary, Deputy Headgirl and Headgirl took an oath of office at a ceremony. The oath was administered by our senior member and Vice President Mrs Mahgul Koreshi in the presence of Co Director Education Farzana Saeed.
We held an event at our school to celebrate the life and work of Shyai’re Mashriq, Allama Iqbal.
Director Education at Mashal, Tallat Azim, said that it would not be fair to call Iqbal a Pakistani poet. His message and vision is for the entire Muslim population of the world. And that his work is influenced by and reflects passages of the Holy Quran.
The programme began with ‘Khuddi ka sirr e nihan’. The students also sang ‘Lab pai aati hai dua’ , ‘Her lehza hai Momin ki nai aan nai shan’. Three girls recited the Persian poem called ‘Az khawab e girran khez’. Apart from a couple of speeches on his life and achievements the finale was the mesmerising Shikwa and Jawab e Shikwa that are among Iqbal s best known poems.
The programme ended with a note of appreciation by Mashal’s President Fawzia Asim.
A weeklong celebration of Seerat un Nabi to commemorate the month of Rabiaul Awal- the birth month of our beloved Prophet (PBUH) was organised at the school for girls run by Mashal Association. The celebration culminated with a Mehfil e Milad, attended by the students & staff of our school and members of Mashal. It was a beautiful and spiritual morning. Apart from recitation of Durood o Salaam the examples and best practices that Hazrat Muhammad our Prophet (PBUH) represented in his behaviour were recalled and the essence of Islam explained to the students.
The Medical Department arranged a Free Medical Camp on 20th September 2022 in collaboration with The Diabetes Centre which is Pakistan’s First Specialized Diabetes Hospital.
Initially Mashal school children from class 8 onwards, were screened out.The students first screened out for blood sugar level, then went to data entry desk, then to the Nutritionist, then to Diabetologist and finally to the Ophthalmologist.
After the student’s screening short lectures were given to the students, domestic workers and the members who were present by The Diabetologist, Nutritionist and the Ophthalmologist.
Later on question and answer session was held. Then Mashal domestic staff went through this whole process. Efforts were made to accommodate as many persons as possible within the given time (which was till 3p.m) and capacity. In the end a simple lunch was served to the guests (which was hosted by the doctors of the Medical Department).
Gosha-e-Mashal School held its annual prize distribution ceremony on 10th March 2020. M.D. National Education Foundation Tahira Shaikh was the Chief Guest at the event and distributed prizes to the position holders. The students displayed their talents in a beautifully choreographed variety programme comprising national songs and tableau, which was highly appreciated by the Chief Guest and Mashal Members.
The Chief Guest was very impressed by the missionary zeal of the Mashal Association, which being a charity organization, is imparting education as well as inculcating the spirit of patriotism and developing confidence in presenting their extracurricular skills.
Tahira Shaikh stated that the challenges of the modern world necessitate the development of educated, determined and motivated girls to fulfil their responsibilities.
Voice of America had kindly donated radio sets, which were also distributed among the prize winners and also lower staff of the Mashal Association.
On this auspicious occasion, President Mashal Association, Rukhsana Sarfraz, in her concluding address, thanked the Chief Guest for gracing the occasion and appreciated the efforts of the organizers, Fauzia Asim, Farzana Saeed and the teachers and staff of the Education Department.
A very beautifully organized Mehfil-e-Milad was held at Gosha-e-Mashal in the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal to pay respect to the Holy Prophet (SAW). Begum Akram Zaki, a senior member of Mashal Association donated funds for this occasion. The girls of Gosha-e-Mashal School rendered Naat and special prayers were held for the health of the senior members of Mashal Association, prosperity of Pakistan and for the eradication of the global pandemic COVID-19.
The event was organized the President Mashal Association, Rukhsana Sarfraz. 150 lunch boxes were also distributed among students and staff at the Milad. All members appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee. Alhamdolillah, this was the last major event of 2020.
ANNUAL CALENDAR OF ACTIVITIES
- One major fund raiser per year where tables are sold and there is top-of-the-line entertainment to add value. Mashal’s work is showcased to the audience prior to the performance.
- Seminars to raise awareness on health related issues are organized two or three times in a school year with mothers of students also invited with inter active talk sessions by qualified professionals.
- Thrift Bazars are organized at Gosha e Mashal once a quarter. Everything of use to families is collected and put on sale at throw-away prices for the community. The announcement of the Bazar is made through flyers which are circulated in all close by areas.
- Winter and Summer Bazars are organized on a fairly large scale at good venues to attract people and stalls both. Mashal’s own handicrafts sell like hot cakes during these events and they also get orders for their things.
- Milad on Eid Milad un Nabi is celebrated with mothers of students also invited.
- Visits by different important national and international guests are also part of activity. They are selected for their interest in philanthropy and/or circle of influence.
- A prize giving ceremony is held at the end of every school year. Best performing students are recognized and encouraged. Those having done vocational courses also get their diplomas at this event.
