BACKGROUND AND INTRODUCTION

Mashal Association is a social welfare association registered under the Societies Registration Act XX1 of 1860 on August 31, 1988. It is a non-political, non-sectarian welfare association dedicated to the uplift of underprivileged women and girls in and around Islamabad. It was founded by Begum Shahida Ejaz Azim. The members are all dedicated volunteers. Mashal Association is an annually audited NGO.

MASHAL ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

  • The organization shall consist of the General Body and the Executive Committee.

  • The Executive Committee will comprise of 12 members who will be elected by the General Body for a two year term.
  • All financial decisions shall be approved by the Executive Committee and passed by the majority of members at the General Body meeting.
  • Further, the Executive Committee will prepare schemes, budgets and progress reports and be responsible for the maintenance of safe custody of the office records and property. It shall also draw up program of the Association and shall be responsible for its implementation.
  • All office bearers and members of the Executive Committee shall work in honorary capacity and shall not charge any remuneration / expenses.

Gosha – E – Mashal

Welfare Complex

Mashal Association with the help of donations by C.I.D.A, J.I.C.A and UN Women’s Guild based in Rome, Italy and its own fund raising resources has been able to build a complex, on 2600 sq. yds in Margalla Town. This is approximately 12 km from Islamabad and surrounded by about 9 villages and “kachi abadies” in dire need of help. This centre name “Gosha-e-Mashal” became operational in 1996-’97.
